Malaysia Hosts ASEAN Online Sales Day (AOSD) 2025 Webinar, Strengthening Regional Integration and Digital Trade Opportunities
KUALA LUMPUR, 17 JULY 2025 (THURSDAY) – Malaysia, as ASEAN Chair for 2025, successfully hosted the ASEAN Online Sales Day (AOSD) Webinar, uniting policymakers, industry experts, and business leaders across the region to drive cross-border e-commerce, regional integration, and economic growth.
Organised in conjunction with Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship theme of “ASEAN: A Catalyst for Regional Growth and Digital Transformation,” the webinar, held on 16 July 2025, attracted participants from ASEAN Member States such as Indonesia, Brunei, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. The programme provided a timely platform to promote digital trade, strengthen supply chain resilience, and unlock the potential of the ASEAN consumer market.
MATRADE’s Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Mansor Shah Wahid, officiated the event, reaffirming Malaysia’s commitment to advancing ASEAN integration through inclusive digital transformation. In his address, he underscored the role of e-commerce in empowering MSMEs, boosting regional trade, and enhancing ASEAN’s collective economic resilience.
The ASEAN Online Sales Day (AOSD) 2025 initiative is led by the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) and coordinated by MATRADE, which drives Malaysia’s efforts to boost regional e-commerce collaboration, build capacity, and support businesses in cross-border and domestic digital trade
Participants gained insights into ASEAN’s booming digital economy, projected to exceed USD 300 billion by 2025. Sectoral opportunities identified include halal products, food and beverage, fashion, consumer technology, and other high-demand categories. Speakers also discussed strategies for MSMEs to expand online sales both regionally and domestically, improve market reach, and build resilient supply chains.
The event featured strong participation from key industry partners including leading e-commerce platforms, logistics providers, payment gateway companies, and technology solution providers who shared their expertise on facilitating seamless online transactions, enhancing logistics networks, and expanding payment solutions. Notable industry partners included Alibaba.com, TikTok Shop Malaysia, DHL Express, Shopee and many more.
MATRADE highlighted that, building on to the focus about e-commerce opportunities and regional expansion, the upcoming ASEAN Online Sales Day 2025 sales campaign, scheduled for 8–10 August 2025, serves as a natural next step for interested micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to further engage with these initiatives.
Businesses, online marketplaces, logistics providers, payment gateways, and other e-commerce enablers are encouraged to onboard and actively support the AOSD 2025 Sales Campaign to expand their digital reach and showcase their products and services.
