Organised by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), the business matching event brought together 20 buyers from Thailand, Indonesia, Myanmar, Cambodia, Vietnam and Brunei with 150 Malaysian companies, resulting in 245 business meetings.

The programme was officially launched by YB Datuk Ewon Benedick, Minister of Entrepreneur and Cooperative Development, and featured an exhibition by various ministries and government agencies, showcasing their support for the development of local enterprises.

“This achievement underscores MATRADE’s continuous efforts to facilitate Malaysian SMEs in accessing export markets. By bringing international buyers to Malaysia, we are creating opportunities for our companies to expand beyond borders and strengthen Malaysia’s role in the regional trade ecosystem,” said Encik Mansor Shah Wahid, Deputy CEO of MATRADE.

The strong response from both local companies and foreign buyers reflects the importance of structured sourcing platforms in accelerating trade growth. Buyers expressed satisfaction with the quality of business meetings and urged for the programme to be continued annually.

Building on this success, SME Bank and MATRADE will continue to organize the SME Bank XCESS Programme in 2026, ensuring that Malaysian SMEs continue to gain access to new opportunities across ASEAN and beyond.
