MATRADE and China Construction Bank Secure 95 Collaboration Intents
KUALA LUMPUR, 7 OCTOBER 2025 (TUESDAY) – The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), in collaboration with China Construction Bank (CCB) and the China-ASEAN Expo Secretariat, successfully organised the 7th Malaysia-China B2B Business Matching Session. The event was held in conjunction with the 22nd China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) in Nanning, Guangxi, China, on 16th September 2025, prior to the exhibition.
The session, aimed at strengthening Malaysia’s presence at CAEXPO and boosting bilateral trade between Malaysia and China, was held, as a subsequent to the renewal relationship between two parties via a MoU inked in 2024. This reflects MATRADE’s commitment to fostering meaningful business engagements and real-time negotiations.
The event attracted participation from over 200 companies, including 50 Malaysian exporters and around 150 Chinese companies among CCB clientele from Jiangsu, Jilin, Liaoning, and Guangxi provinces. More than 200 one-to-one business meetings were facilitated, resulting in 95 collaboration intents, showcasing the growing interest in strategic cross-border partnerships.
The business matching session focused on key sectors including high-quality specialty agricultural products (such as bird’s nests), food and beverages, consumer goods, health products, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, construction materials, logistics and distribution solutions, and artificial intelligence.
“The collaboration between MATRADE and China Construction Bank plays a significant role in enabling Malaysian exporters to venture into fast growing 2nd tier city like Nanning and other 3rd tier cities, with support of financing facilities by CCB. This initiative reflects the strong and growing economic ties between Malaysia and China, and reaffirms MATRADE’s strategic role in creating platforms that connect Malaysia exporters with global buyers”, said Dato’ Sri Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MATRADE.
Distinguished guests at the session include H.E. Ouyang Yujing, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Malaysia, H.E. Ahmad Phadil Ismail, Consul General of Malaysia to Nanning, Ms. Hua Guangmin, Assistant Secretary-General of the China-ASEAN Expo Secretariat, Mr. Yue Liuchang, Deputy General Manager, International Business Department, China Construction Bank and Mr. Mazlan Harun, Director of China and Northeast Asia Section, MATRADE.
After the business matching session, follow-up discussions at the Malaysia Pavilion during CAEXPO has culminated with the signing of multiple Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and Letters of Intent (LoIs), realising the business prospects.
The success of the event sets a promising tone for future collaboration, particularly in high-growth sectors that contribute to both nations’ sustainable economic development.
