The 30 shortlisted projects (finalists) have significant contributions to 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Endorsed by the Ministry of Youth and the Malaysian Youth Council, the award, designed by Malaysia’s very own young leaders, recognises organisations’ invaluable efforts to promote environmental sustainability, social responsibility and good governance.

Datuk Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz, the Chief Executive Officer of MATRADE, as Guest of Honour at the SDA Finalists announcement, shared an encouraging and eclectic message with the audience.

“ESG is not just a trend. It is the cornerstone of sustainable growth and global responsibility. MATRADE is immensely proud to support the 2024 JCIM Sustainable Development Award, which reflects our commitment to fostering a culture of sustainability in trade. This collaboration highlights the critical role of innovative solutions and responsible practices in shaping a sustainable future. I applaud all participants for your dedication to advancing environmental, social, and governance standards underscores Malaysia’s potential to lead on the global stage. Together, we are not only celebrating excellence but also driving meaningful progress towards a sustainable future for generations to come,” he said.

JCIM SDA is a globally recognised award aligned with the United Nations Sustainable

Development Goals launched by JCI Malaysia in 2017. It recognises projects conducted by companies, governments, and NGOs in advancing the 17 UNSDG with call-to-action for both the public and private sectors to help address crucial global challenges such as ending poverty, ensuring access to high-quality education, and protecting natural resources as well as responsible consumption and production.

To ensure the 2024 JCIM SDA is both valuable and impactful, its organising chairman, Mr. Jazz Khor, and his team dedicated significant planning time. He firmly believes that the strategic partnership with MATRADE enables businesses to future-proof themselves by being responsible in addressing global issues and creating opportunities for a sustainable world.

The sustainable development award transcends beyond recognition; it symbolises a steadfast commitment to fostering meaningful and enduring progress in sustainability. It drives ESG adoption through the greening of export supply chain.

Moving forward, the award presentation ceremony will be on September 22, 2024, at HXC Seafood Setia Alam. It is anticipated that organisations and leaders who support the sustainability agenda will be present. The public is welcome to attend the prestigious JCIM SDA Grand Award Ceremony to witness one of the most anticipated sustainable development award presentations in Malaysia.
