MATRADE to Spearhead Mission for Construction, Building Materials & ICT Services in the UK
Saturday, March 5th, 2016, Kuala Lumpur: In an effort to promote Malaysia’s capabilities in the Construction, Building Materials and ICT Services, Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) will be organising a Specialised Marketing Mission (SMM) to London, United Kingdom (UK) from 7 to 11 March 2016.
The SMM was held in-conjunction with ECOBUILD London and involves a total of 15 Malaysian companies. The participating companies are in the civil engineering works, architectural interior design & build, archifoam & flexistone, lightweight celuka, wooden products, energy efficient LED, hardware and software consultancy services, internet infrastructure and e-Commerce location based services. Others include kitchen ware, digital information logging system, HVAC flexible duct, thermal insulation, vapour barrier aluminium foil and decorative lighting for household.
During the mission, the companies are expected to highlight their value proposition on supplying eco-friendly products and services that comply with the latest trend and market demands in the UK. “This initiative will portray Malaysia as the solution providers for the UK market, particularly in the construction projects for smart city projects overseas,†said MATRADE’s chief executive officer Dato’ Dzulkifli Mahmud.
A total of 100 one-on-one business meetings with 50 potential importers in the UK have been pre-arranged by MATRADE’s London Office for the Malaysian participants. Complementing the business meetings are participation in ECOBUILD exhibition and visits to the Battersea Power Station Development Company,EcoWorld International and The Building Centre
“This mission will provide anopportunity for MATRADE to explore any untapped opportunities for Malaysian companies in the UK’s construction, building materials and ICT services. It will also serve as a good platform for the Malaysian participants to search for their new potential agents, distributors or importers there,†Dato’ Dzulkifli opined.
ECOBUILD is a UK-based event catered for sustainable design and construction industry and has the most comprehensive showcase of sustainable building materials products. It brings together 85% of the top 100 architects, 92% of the top 50 contractors &house builders and 57% of the top-30 foreign importers.
Malaysia’s export of building materials to the UK was valued at RM0.62 billion in 2015 which contributed 1.9% of Malaysia’s total export of building materials to the world. Major exports of building materials were wood products, manufacturers of metal and iron & steel products.
