Saturday, May 28th, 2016, Jeli: Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation’s (MATRADE) awarded two entrepreneurs from Jeli in conjunction with the Jeli Entrepreneur Expo 2016. The awards are given today based on the ability and success stories of the entrepreneurs in exporting their products and services.

The two awards are MATRADE’s Female Netrepreneur Award presented to Ms Naimey Abd Jalil who owns NMY Jeli Wholesale (M) Sdn Bhd and MATRADE Export Innovation Award given to Mr Romi Sidi Hamat the founder of Promix Global Enterprise.

Ms Naimey began her clothing line brand, Carya Zara, via an online channel in 2013 and since then has widened her business capacity globally. Today, she runs two branches of her brand in Brunei and Singapore. Last year, her company, NMY Jeli Wholesale, recorded RM3 million sales and is now expanding to Sweden and Australia.

Just as successful is Mr Romi who is an active player in the Medical Devices industry. His company Promix Global produces hospital equipment and is in the midst of shipping the brand’s products to Singapore. Mr Romi is a first-time exporter and his first sale to Singapore promises him RM300, 000 in export sales.

The awards were given by MATRADE to recognised Jeli-based entrepreneurs and to inspire more businesses in Jeli and Kelantan at large to kick start their ventures in export. MATRADE’s participation on Jeli Entrepreneur Expo 2016 was aimed at promoting the awareness on export to Small and Medium Enterprises. Apart from the awards, MATRADE has also organised a seminar on Netrepreneur and its programme eTRADE.

The Jeli Entrepreneur Expo 2016 was organised by Ministry of International Trade and Industry was a 3-day expo filled with activities such as seminar on entrepreneurship, food truck festival, SME’s products exhibition, lucky draw, food decorating contest and entrepreneur awards programme. Complementing these were career fairs and open interviews, busking performances, lectures, seminars and various other entrepreneurial activities.

The event was attended by Minister of International Trade and Industry, YB Dato’ Mustapha Mohamed and started on 26th May. The expo is ending today and received the participation of 128 entrepreneurs and 60 agencies.
