THURSDAY, AUGUST 11, 2016, KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) organises yet another of its signature business matching programme called International Sourcing Programme (INSP), this time focusing on Malaysia's Creative and Multimedia industry. The initiative is a strong embodiment of the export promotion agency's effort to further diversify and strengthen Malaysia's export of services.

The event congregates more than 22 international delegates and nearly 100 Malaysian companies in the Creative and Multimedia content sector such as ASTRO, Animonsta Studios, Les' Copaque and Primeworks Distribution. The business matching sees more than 200 B2B meetings being arranged by MATRADE with foreign delegations who hail from Singapore, Indonesia, Myanmar, Cambodia, Vietnam, Turkey, South Africa, India and South Korea.

The INSP offers a platform for the Malaysian participants to showcase their services in creative and multimedia content to potential partners from overseas who are keen to source for services from Malaysian game developers, entertainers, television stations, films makers as well as advertisers. The participants in the INSP are expected to not only network but connect with people who can influence and make final buying decisions for their brands.

According to MATRADE's CEO, Dato' Dzulkifli Mahmud the INSP has for many years been an effective tool for Malaysian companies to engage with foreign business partners as the buyers are being screened by MATRADE and local companies need not bear hefty travelling cost.

"This programme will also be a catalyst to more collaboration between Malaysian and foreign companies in the Creative and Multimedia industry. Malaysia has abundant talent in this sector and it is our responsibility to help provide them a platform to succeed globally. This industry has the capability to enhance Malaysia's branding worldwide and the initiative is in line with one of National Key Economic Area's (NKEA) Entry Point Projects which is on Communications, Content and Infrastructure (CCI)," Dato' Dzulkifli says.

The Malaysian creative industry is worth of RM17 billion and has the ability to create more than 43,000 new job opportunities by year 2020. "Malaysia is an attractive place for content development, as there is an abundance of English speaking creative multi-racial talent pool who enjoy government support and various infrastructures such as state-of-the art studios, which international production houses can fully utilise. They are relatively affordable venues, fit for world class studio operations too," Dato' Dzulkifli adds.
