Computing Infrastructure
In 2013, MATRADE established a remote Disaster
Recovery Site in accordance to directive set by MAMPU.
A comprehensive Business Continuity Plan is also in the
pipeline to cater for other areas of business continuity
management.
In promoting green technology, MATRADE intensified its
effort in the virtualisation technology and currently has
26 virtual machines in placed that would reduce electric
power demand. Virtualisation results in a significantly
more efficient operational model for space, power and
cooling consumption. All critical MATRADE’s service
infrastructure and application system use the centralised
virtualisation service.

IT Acculturation
Aimed at improving the capacity and skills of IT
among MATRADE’s personnel, a total of 89 training
sessions were held for 769 MATRADE’s personnel
including those in the overseas and branch offices.
The capability and skills of the IT personnel was also
developed on which the technical related trainings
were also organised.
MATRADE’s staff strength in 2013 stood at 615
including locally recruited staff based in its overseas
offices worldwide. Committed to serve its clientele,
be it Malaysian exporters and business community
or foreign buyers, the management ensures that
each officer and staff are equipped with the relevant
knowledge and training skills required to provide
excelent service.
In 2013, a total of 156 training and human resource
development programmes were conducted for
MATRADE’s personnel in areas of leadership,
management, personal development, ICT as well as
job specific courses.

Third Country
Training Program
In 2013, a new technical assistance program under
the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme
initiative was introduced. The Third Country Training
Program (TCTP) is a collaboration with the Ministry
of Foreign Affairs Malaysia and the Government
of Japan through Japan International Cooperation
Agency (JICA), aimed at strengthening the South-
South Cooperation in the area of capacity building
among developing countries.
Held from 24 November till 5 December 2013, the
TCTP carrying the theme “Trade Facilitation for
African Countries”, was participated by 13 trade
promotion officers from 8 countries, namely Cote
D’Ivoire, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Nigeria, South
Africa, Swaziland and Zambia.
