registered with MATRADE. To encourage SMEs
to venture abroad, the Market Development Grant
(MDG) was instrumental in assisting Malaysian
companies to expand their business in various
market overseas.

During the period of 1 January 2013 - 31 December
2013 a total of 2,182 SMEs including trade related
associations had benefited from this programme.

MATRADE also managed two other exporters
development programmes; the Bumiputera Exporters
Development Programme (BEDP) and the Women
Exporters Development Programme (WEDP), aimed at
increasing the participation of Bumiputera and women
entrepreneurs in the international marketplace.
For both programmes, support is given for three years
to selected companies who meet the criteria. It is to
enhance and develop their export knowledge through
training and trade promotion activities. In 2013, a total
of 29 companies joined the programmes.
In the same year, 144 companies graduated from
the programme, 87 under BEDP while 57 under
WEDP. Another 86 companies are still in the two
programmes; 45 companies under the BEDP and 41
companies under the WEDP.
As part of their training, these companies participated in a total of 134 export promotion activities.
They reported sales of RM360.13 million being outcome from their participation
