Promoting Malaysian Products &
Services through MATRADE Portal
ICT Initiatives
A total of 490,897 visitors accessed the
MATRADE Portal in 2013; representing an
increase of 32.68% from 2012. The highest
page visited was the Malaysia Product Directory
section which garnered 85,284 views; a testimony
that the portal is an effective e-promotion tool
for marketing Malaysian exporters online. The
increase by 49% of foreign visitors is another
indication that the portal created more visibility
for Malaysian products and services to the global
market.
In the same year, the portal introduced a new
segment, ‘Exporters Success Stories’ aimed at
inspiring other Malaysian exporters to strive for
success. A total of 20 successful exporters from
various industries were featured ranging from
processed food, construction to the creative
industry.
For three consecutive years from 2011, MATRADE
Portal achieved 5 Star rating from MDeC and
MAMPU under the Malaysia Government Portal
and Websites Assessment (MGPWA).

Providing Digital Opportunities
Through Online Digital Content
MyExport, an intranet portal and mobile
appslication for Malaysian exporters as well as
Trade2Media mobile apps complemented the
delivery channel in providing online digital content
for Malaysian exporters and media.
In 2013, 4,750 registred members of MATRADE
subscribed to MyExport. The top page accessed
was Trade Leads which provide digital access on
export opportunities abroad. Promotion of these
services will be intensified further for the benefit of
Malaysian exporters.
Upgrading through
New Applications
Unified Communication
through Video Conference
Three new applications were developed with improved
new features and reporting options. These included the
Malaysia Trade Statistics System v3.0, the Electronic
Document Management System v.2.0 and the Trade Event
Feedback System. The latter was introduced to capture
feedback received from event participants via three stages;
during event, after 6 months and after 12 months. With
MATRADE’s Enterprise Architecture Framework, new
applications and services will be initiated in the future.
MATRADE introduced Video Conferencing facility as an
alternative channel to communicate with MATRADE personnel as
well as others, in particular, Malaysian exporters. A total of 115
sessions were conducted in 2013, of which 42% of them were
for training sessions for MATRADE officers in the overseas and
branch offices.
This facility has also enabled MATRADE to reach out more
to the exporting community by providing them with real time
information. Sessions conducted included 3 broadcast seminars
which Malaysian exporters participated online and pre-departure
meetings whereby they can get first-hand information from the
Trade Commissioners where the export promotion activities were
held. Video conference facility will be further expanded to allow
greater outreach to exporters to include capacity building.
