Increasing purchasing power of Russian consumers, a growing
imports of processed food and the accelerating pace of life in
Moscow which led to preferences for convenience food were
among the basis for conducting the inaugural Specialised
Marketing Mission on Processed Food to Moscow. The
Mission, held in conjunction with World Food Moscow saw
the participation of 16 representatives from 11 companies in
the Malaysia Pavilion. The exhibition, a leading trade show in
Russia, housed a total of 2,209 exhibitors, including 575 from
abroad. The Malaysian exhibitors had a total of 156 business
meetings resulting in sales of RM5.22 million, mostly for
organic noodles, ready to eat cereals, confectioneries, pre-
mixed beverages, fruit juices, dried fruits and nuts. Delegation
members were also arranged with visits to hypermarkets and
food mart for a first-hand knowledge on the Russian food
industry and its operations.

at MOSBUILD, the largest Eastern
European interior and construction fair
which accommodated more than 2,300
organisations, was aimed at tapping
the lucrative building materials market
in this region. Malaysian exhibitors
were rewarded with business deals and
sales amounting to RM76.57 million.
Among products sourced were rubber
coloured sports granules, water tank
and decorative light for hotels and
households.

The success of Showcase Malaysia held in
Mumbai and Pune in 2011 and 2012, respectively
led to the organising of Showcase Malaysia in
Chennai, targeting India’s second tier city. With
a large representation of 62 representatives from
28 companies and agencies, the single country
exhibition attracted over 4,000 visitors and
generated RM29.5 million in sales of products and
services projects. The market sought education
opportunities in Malaysia, industrial cleaning
services and among top sourced products were
confectionery, lubricants, pharmaceuticals and
telecommunications.

Held for the first time, Showcase Malaysia in
Karachi aimed to broaden Malaysia’s range of
exports to Pakistan. A total of 54 representatives
from 31 companies and agencies showcased
products from various clusters such as
automotive parts and components, food and
beverages, chemical and plastics, electrical
& electronic and lifestyle. Malaysia’s services
sector was also promoted during the event.
The promotion was successful in enhancing
businesses between Malaysia and Pakistan
where a total of 2,386 contacts were made and
had generated sales of RM44.05 million.
