STEP 6:
EC Declaration
of Conformity
The declaration of conformity is
one of the final steps in the CE-
marking procedure. It basically
states that your product conforms
to the applicable directive(s).
The declaration of conformity
must contain all relevant product
information, including which EU
directive(s) the product now
complies with. Again, the specific
requirements for taking this step
will differ from one product and one
directive to another. The general
criteria for the declaration of
conformity have been summed up
in standard EN 45014. Elements
that should be included are:
• The name and address
of the manufacturer or the
authorised representative
issuing the declaration;
• Identification of the product
(name, type or model
number, batch or serial
number etc.);
• A description of the standards
you’ve used to comply with
the requirements from the
directive;
• If a Notified Body has been
involved, it’s name should be
mentioned;
