assumes as the distribution hub to neighbouring land
locked countries through its ports of Beira and Maputo
were among considerations set for selecting Maputo as
the mission’s base. The 18 member delegation who were

organisation of seminar and conferences.
With a population of 170 million, and an under
developed manufacturing presence, Nigeria offers
an ideal destination for Malaysia’s exports. Beyond
that, being a member of the Economic Community of
West African States or ECOWAS, a group of 15 states
promoting economic integration, including trade, Nigeria
could also serve as a springboard to gain access to
other member countries.
Delegation members in this inaugural mission to Nigeria
led by MATRADE were delighted with their business
visit as they concluded sales totalling over RM151
million. Services contracts negotiated included design
and construction of a modern palm oil mill, engineering
inspection services for oil & gas as well as water
pipelines and transportation of liquid and bulk products.
