Conference, Houston 2013
A total of RM5.54 billion worth of busineses were generated by
Malaysian exhibitors at the Offshore Technology Conference
(OTC) 2013, Houston, Texas. The inaugural collaborative effort
between MATRADE and the Malaysian Petroleum Resources
Corporation (MPRC) in organising the Malaysia Pavilion at
OTC saw the participation of 22 companies as well as 8
agencies and associations related to the Malaysian oil and
gas industry. Malaysian exhibitors ranged from SMEs to major
players such as PETRONAS, UMW Oil & Gas Corporation, and
SapuraKencana Petroleum Bhd.
Among services sourced were offshore installation, pipeline and
plants inspection, risk and operational software, offshore drilling
operations and oil & gas offshore logistics, while top product
sales were generated for fire resistance, doors and cathodic
protection system.
The Malaysian delegation took the opportunity of their presence
at the conference and exhibition to promote attendance at OTC
Asia 2014 which is to be held in Kuala Lumpur.
Oil & Gas Services
The Specialised Marketing Mission on Oil & Gas to
Ulaanbaatar, witnessed the inaugural presence of
Malaysian companies led by MATRADE to Mongolia.
It served as a platform for delegation members to
meet with potential buyers, opened doors for them
to network with the state-owned petroleum agency,
Petroleum Authority of Mongolia and a major oil
and gas company in the country, Wolf Petroleum.
Over 100 business meetings with potential partners
were organised for the Malaysian companies which
resulted in projects and product sales totalling
RM677.94 million. Projects negotiated included drilling
services, heating, ventilation and air-conditioning
services, technical and engineering training services,
engineering design services and sub-contract for
scaffolding and insulation services. Among products
sourced were valves, pipes and fittings and lubricants.

Schlumberger is the leading oil field service
provider to the world’s oil and gas industry. In
2013, MATRADE coordinated a Global Sourcing
Programme with this multi-national corporation
which was attended by 148 representatives from 88
Malaysian companies.
A presentation by Schlumberger highlighted on its
five focus areas in Asia Pacific which benefitted the
Malaysian participants. The pre-arranged individual
business matching session between Malaysian
companies and the MNC concluded with sales
totalling RM7.2 million. Among top products and
services sourced were pipes, fittings valves, tanks,
contro line protector and cryogenic related services
and engineering.

Programme -
Schlumberger
A leading biennial event for the oil and gas
industry in North America and the largest
in Canada, Gas & Oil Expo 2013 attracted
over 500 exhibitors and 20,000 visitors. It
was an inaugural presence for the Malaysian
exhibitors under the Malaysia Pavilion and a
gratifying participation with sales of products
worth RM46 million generated arising from
their business meetings with buyers. Among
the products sourced were intermediates for oil
field chemicals, pumps, valves for drilling, pipe
and pipe coating and oil field chemical pumps
while services negotiated were enhanced
mechanical engineering. Malaysian exhibitors
were also scheduled with B2B Dialogue with
Export Development Canada, Talisman Energy
Inc, a global upstream oil & gas company and
Progress Energy Canada Ltd, a subsidiary of
Petronas.
