FOODEX held in Chiba, Japan is Asia’s leading trade show in
the food and beverage industry. 2013 marked the 11
th
year of
MATRADE’S participation in FOODEX exhibition. The Malaysian
exhibitors participating in this event have achieved total sales of
RM29.69 million, involving 234 business meetings. Top products
sourced during the event were confectionery, beverages, frozen
food and spices & condiments.
Fine Food Australia,
Sydney
The 18 Malaysian exhibitors at Fine Food Australia, the
largest and most important food and hospitality event
in Australasia which attracted over 24,000 professional
buyers, were duly rewarded with sales amounting to
RM101.78 million. Among popular items sourced were
confectionery, frozen food, spices and condiments,
seafood and bakery products, as well as plastics
packaging and containers.
Gulf Food Dubai, the annual premier food and hospitality
show in West Asia never fails to realise sales for Malaysian
exhibitors. Attended by more than 55,000 industry buyers, chefs,
importers, exporters and food industry professionals worldwide,
the exhibition has been the best platform for Malaysian food
exporters to promote their products. In 2013, 49 companies
under the Malaysia Pavilion negotiated and generated sales
valued at RM154.99 million.

Guangzhou
China Import & Export Expo or Guangzhou Fair, held
biannually in Guangzhou every spring and autumn is
the world’s largest trade fair in terms of scale.
It hosted over 24,000 exhibitors and attracted over
1.8 million foreign buyers. The participation of 30
Malaysian companies under the national pavilion
reaped sales worth RM132.15 million.
SIAL China,
Shanghai
With over 1.34 billion population, PRC is the second
largest consumer of food and beverages worldwide.
SIAL China, the annual leading food and beverages
exhibition in Asia that accommodates over 2,000
exhibitors, is thus the ideal venue for Malaysian
food exporters to promote their products to this
huge market. Malaysian exhibitors comprising 17
companies held a total of 127 business meetings,
generating sales of RM16.53 million.
Held biennially, HOFEX, the largest food and hospitality
trade show in the Asia Pacific region saw the largest
scale exhibition ever in 2013, with over 1,900
exhibitors including 40 national pavilions and over
37,800 professional buyers. Exhibitors at the Malaysia
Pavilion were engaged in 112 business meetings
with foreign buyers and reported sales to the value of
RM60.83 million.
