The destructive earthquake of Febuary 2011
which badly damaged Christchurch has compelled
initiation of reconstruction of New Zealand’s
second largest city. MSE was planned together
with the Specialised Marketing Mission on Building
Materials to tap opportunities in the re-building
exercise in offering construction expertise and latest
technology by Malaysian service providers. The
service providers garnered projects worth RM4.48
million for education services, installing surveillance
system, building security system, installing LED and
energy saving devices and consultancy, logistic
services and corporate branding services.

MSE Sao Paulo
and Santiago
The inaugural presence of MSE in Sao Paulo and
Santiago was aimed at tapping the vast potential
of the services sector in Latin America. MSE
was held concurrent with the Marketing Mission
to these cities. In Sao Paulo, Malaysian service
providers discussed and negotiated projects
worth RM274.37 million. Among major projects
secured were communication for government
agencies and encryption technology for banks,
electrical control system & monorail track switch
control system, marine oil & gas services,
portable steel bridge and formwork for low cost
housing. In Santiago, MSE generated projects
worth RM121 million were secured mostly
for virtual network, advertising services and
corporate gift booklet.

Healthcare Services
MEDICA Dusseldorf 2013 in Germany, the
world’s largest trade show in healthcare
industry attracted more than 135,000 visitors
from 100 countries. Sales of RM77.36 million
were generated by 13 Malaysian companies
who participated at the trade fair. Among
products that generated great interest at the
Malaysia Pavilion were medical latex gloves,
surgical instruments and condoms.
Being the most comprehensive hospital and medical
related show in Japan, the International Modern
Hospital Show 2013 generated sales of RM 11.12
million. Products that generated interests among
Japanese buyers were hospital bed, durable
medical equipment and medical disposables.
The 11 Malaysian exhibitors at Arab Health Dubai,
the largest annual healthcare exhibition and
medical congress in the Middle East, had a very
busy schedule with 224 business meetings. The
outcome of their discussions were productive
with sales of RM45.93 million. Among products
sourced were surgical and latex examination
gloves, medical syringes, pharmaceutical products,
medical furniture, health and personal care
products as well as herbal products. The exhibition
attracted more than 25,000 visitors and 2,300
exhibitors from 65 countries.
